As part of the plans to achieve its mandate of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for the State, the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), is partnering with the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA).
The Chairman, Governing Board, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Adetokunbo Alakija, during a recent visit to the Director General, Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Dr. Timothy Olawale, at NECA House, Ikeja, said the partnership became necessary in order for the Agency to reach the informal sector, including the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the State.
He said: “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu considers the Lagos State Health Scheme to be fundamental as he places a very high premium on the wellbeing of all the residents in the State”.
According to the Chairman, since good health is germane to national development, organisations should to enroll their workers on the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS).
“If workers are healthy, it would enhance their job performance, productivity and more profit for the organization”, he said.
Responding, the Director General, Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, Dr. Timothy Olawale, said that the State government is passionate about the plight of the citizenry.
“This is reflected in its various programmes, policies, provision of good infrastructure and good service delivery among others”, he noted.
Pledging the continuous support to the efforts of the State government in the provision of Universal Health Coverage for the people, the NECA boss urged operatives of the informal sector to enroll their workers on the scheme.
Dr. Timothy, who lauded the Health Scheme, promised to keep encouraging more associations to enroll on it.
A member of LASHMA Board, Mr. Lekan Ewenla, commended the NECA DG for supporting the State’s Universal Health Coverage drive.
