Tertiary institutions owned by the Lagos State Government will continue to produce quality manpower that will help fast-track socio-economic development in the country.
Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule stated this in Lagos during a career expo organized by the students and the Ministry.
The Commissioner, who was represented at the occasion by a director in the ministry, Kike Oduwole described the expo as an opportunity to hear directly from the employers of labor on how to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the State’s higher institutions.
He noted that the government has invested enormous resources in manpower development, provision of facilities, infrastructure, and a good environment for the students to learn and acquire needed skills.
He advised the students to grab the opportunity to ask relevant questions from potential employers, stressing that this will lead to career advancement.
While reminding them that getting a job is daunting in our ever-challenging environment, Sule urged them to be ready to leave their comfort zone.
He said: “You must have a penchant for innovation, and the ability to display multicultural competence. This is quite vital to be separated from others in the already aurated labor market.
He stressed that the current administration is keen on having world-standard tertiary institutions that operate in line with the best practices.
“This is essential for us to produce qualified graduates who can compete for jobs globally”, he noted.
The Commissioner noted that the peaceful atmosphere that pervades the government-owned institutions and the seamless academic calendar being enjoyed are testimonies to the government’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.
