Lagos State Operations Coordinating Unit (LASOCU), a Unit in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB), has organized a 3-day step-down training on Community Based Targeting Teams (CBTTs) in Ikorodu Local Government on Community Based Targeting (CBT) Process.

Speaking during the exercise, Permanent Secretary, MEPB, Mrs. Abiola Liadi, represented by Mr. Aderemi Olajide, a Deputy Director in the Ministry, said the training was organised to enhance the performance of participants on the field.

The Permanent Secretary, therefore, urged them to make good use of the opportunity, saying it would boost their capacity to perform very well on the job.

“I urge you to make good use of this unique opportunity in order to enhance your skill and capability”, she said.

According to Liadi, similar training was done during the 1st phase and it yielded excellent results.

While explaining that LASOCU is meant to generate for the State a Single Social Register of Poor (LASSR) and Vulnerable Households, which will be merged with other States’ Registers to form a National Social Register (NSR), the Permanent Secretary disclosed that a total of 129, 568 Poor and Vulnerable Households (PVHHs) and 485, 791 Individuals have so far been registered, thus moving Lagos State from no 34 to 12 on the NSR ladder board within a period of 5 months.

Liadi also explained that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has recently approved the expansion of the project’s implementation with four additional Local Governments (LGs) and twelve Local Community Development Associations (LCDAs).

She said: “It is the desire of the State government that the poorest of the poor and vulnerable households in the State enroll into the programme for optimal benefits.

While thanking the Federal Government for bringing the project to the State, Liadi assured on the readiness of the State government to support it.

In her remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs.  Oluwakemi Adedeji, applauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for the massive support given the implementation of this project.

She also acknowledged the role of the Honourable Commissioner, MEPB, Mr. Samuel Egube as well as the Permanent Secretary, MEPB and other major stakeholders in making the programme a huge success.

Earlier, Oluwasesan Dainni Mayokun, Chairman, Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA, Ikorodu, assured the  CBTTs of his, and other chairmen’s, readiness to support the project.
