The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), has concluded the Phase III of the EKOEXCEL training programme for teachers to bridge the gap in delivering quality education, through the use of technology devices in Public Primary School pedagogy.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony at Vetland Primary School Agege and CMS Primary School Bariga, the Executive Chairman, LASUBEB, Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King, explained that the integration and infusion of technology into the basic education system will not only promote efficiency but also improve learning outcomes in classrooms.
He explained that over 14,000 teachers had been empowered with the EKOEXCEL initiative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, adding that the use of tablets in classrooms will improve teachers professionally and also make them globally competitive.
“It is a logical approach and total departure from the traditional way of teaching. It is about inculcating the right values in our Schools as well as making our classroom more engaging and interactive”, he said.
Alawiye-King maintained that the initiative is structured to instill discipline, actively engage pupils in classroom activities and also explore the affective domain of teaching and learning.
He, therefore, charged the teachers to go back to the classroom with a renewed energy and explore other boundless possibilities in teaching and learning.
In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, noted that EKOEXCEL has changed the culture of cram and pour in teaching and learning, adding that it was designed to enable the teachers apply their initiatives in managing the classrooms.
