Emotionally stable and well-motivated employees are required in every organisation to fully achieve set corporate goals and vision.
Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, stated this at a three-day retreat organised for staff of the Ministry in Lekki, Lagos.
The Commissioner said the retreat, with the theme “Leading with Emotional Intelligence for Organisational Success”, became imperative to ensure that the Ministry’s workforce is properly motivated and emotional stable.
He said: “The retreat would afford every member of staff the opportunity to express their views on ways to further enhance the progress of the Ministry as well as the state government “.
Eleguishi also said the retreat will avail an opportunity for the staff to relax, invigorate, learn, unlearn and relearn, adding that the choice of the theme for the retreat is quite apt in view of the prevailing situation in the country.
While affirming that that the Ministry recorded a first via the retreat because it had in attendance every member of staff on its nominal roll, the Commissioner commended the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanye, for bringing her administrative dexterity and ingenuity to fore in recording the noble feat.
In her remarks, Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanye appreciated the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration for not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring that the state’s workforce is well-motivated.
The Permanent Secretary encouraged the participants to take advantage of the highly knowledgeable Guest Speaker and seasoned professionals billed to speak at the retreat to improve themselves and become more competent in the discharge of their duties.
The Guest Speaker, Mrs. Titilayo Akisanya, enjoined the participants to employ emotional intelligence in their daily activities for peace and unity to be restored in the country.
